December Fun

Texas has the best weather!! Last week it actually snowed!! We could not believe it!! Apparently it only snows every 7yrs or something crazy and it normally never sticks. The snow we got was beautiful fluffy snow that was great for snowballs. I posted some pictures below but the great thing was by the next day it was in the 70's and sunny again!!. Last weekend we went to see my parents and went to Canton, TX. Canton is like the holy grail of shopping for woman who like crafts, antiques and home decor. My parents live only a hour away so it defiantly was worth the trip and I am sure I will be back. Not sure if I will bring the kids though, not much fun for them.
They have booth after booth of stuff. Although I liked it, a lot of it was the same, farmhouse decor, T-shirts with fancy lettering, same jewelry. Outside they have more flea market style stuff and we didn't find much but it would be better like I said without kids so I could actually take more time.
Here is our Houston Snow!! Oh my gosh I have never seen kids so excited. We woke the kids up early so they could experience the fun! Apparently everyone in Houston was just as excited, I saw post after post. Some of these kids have never seen snow, kids were so filled with joy everywhere. Even the school let the kids go out and play, so cool.
We even made a little snowman, this picture is a illusion he was sitting on our table and was quite tiny, but he looks big!!
Thankfully Buddy was found, he was actually lost for quite a while!
I started playing Bunco with a bunch of my friends from our neighborhood. It's super fun, once a month I get out of the house, and laugh. These are some great ladies.
Christmas is out at our place, I will post some pics soon.
I love these fur babies!! They even pose for pictures, I have them trained well. I finally broke down and bought the Instant Pot, have you tried it? So far we have had a few good things, I made spaghetti from a receipt off of pinterest, kids and Rob did not like it. The boys secretly later told me that dad who already doesn't love pasta said it tasted like cafeteria food. So there you go!! Apparently Pinterest or Instant Pot are not fool proof. So many good ideas and suggestions but not all are great. I am on the search for some better things. It does cook rice well, and hard boiled eggs, true rocket science!

Road Trip to Ohio and Washington D.C

We took a big family road trip to Ohio for my cousin Mark's wedding. We have not been back in 4yrs!! In other news Rob took a new job, I am really excited and proud of him! So onto new adventures for him, we don't have to move this time. Rob got a new truck with his job so he is happy, I think he likes that new truck more then me(: ha ha
We had a great night of dancing, visiting family and fun!! Jaden really got out there and busted a move. It was so nice to see everyone~ The kids even got to see some snow flakes and on the way to D.C we drove through a blowing snow storm. It's been a long time since we have seen snow.

After this we had to leave pretty quick because we were about 6 hrs from D.C we figured when would be back. I really wanted to go to the African American Museum and I know the kids have talked about going back to see everything. So we made the trip. On the long road trip I read this book. I highly recommend this!! So much depth and profound moments in this one. I know that they just made it a movie and the book has been out a few years. This one is defiantly one of my favorites.
Here we are on the Metro, we spent two and half days in D.C. we got to see a lot of the monuments and the big museums and of course we visited my Grandpa!! Jaden and Drew were little guys when he passed away. He was the best, most kind guy around. He loved everyone and had a great sense of humor. Proud of him, he was a true hero.
African American Museum was hands down one of the best experiences as far as museums we have been to. So much history, so much we never knew. It was very sad but impactful, we could have spent another day or two there.

Jaden being funny, he is really coming out of his shell. With us he is silly but he is trying new things, and what a man of style he is. These boys have their own styles now. So much for mom picking stuff out.

We loved seeing fall, it was not to cold but a little bit. These pictures turned out really cute. The yellow tree was awesome, and perfect lighting. To bad I didn't have my good camera, so heavy but I wish I had it. Kids are really changing a lot these last couple years.
Fords Theater was also one of the coolest experiences, Jaden has always loved Lincoln. We were walking by and happened to stop, and I am so glad we did!! Here is the actual gun that killed Lincoln and room across from the theater that he died in.
You can't get real close to the White House at all. There are I think three gates now!

It took a long time to get out of D.C as we left the day before Thanksgiving. So it took us about 24 hrs to get home, I don't think we will do that long of a drive again. It was a great time and the kids were great, they are at a fun age. Besides getting overly silly at times we are living a good life as far as not having to watch them every second, they can even walk ahead and look at stuff on their own. My sweet neighbor knew we had Thanksgiving on the road, when we got home she had a feast for us, so nice of her! Happy Thanksgiving, now onto Christmas
