Oyster Painting And Spring Wreath

I have been dabbling a bit in painting. I am by no means a great painter but I enjoy it and hope to get better. I love to thrift when I have the time it's such a treasure hunt. I love vintage and unique items to change them up and to make them my own. I liked this frame, but not so much the Italian motif. I bough it for a few dollars and I envisioned re purposing it. I finally got around to painting one day and painted a oyster shell. I love coastal anything and light colors so I looked at a few pictures and came up with this. It was fun and only took a couple hours.
It's spring wreath time. I actually made these last month but wanted to post these. Super easy, I love grapevine wreaths. Some eggs, some natural flowers and a few stringy natural looking things.

Found these cool bookcases at World Market. Jaden's room is such a mess. He loves to read and loves to collect books. I made him donate a few things at the threat of not buying more. I really like World Market they have some really cool stuff at good prices. More to come.. Trying to get ready for Easter, I actually did not even pull out any decoration yet, I can't believe it!! I guess priorities lately being clean clothes, food, and laundry over bunnies and eggs.

Controlled Chaos

Baseball/Softball is in full swing. I love it so much but it is defiantly a huge commitment for the kids and parents alike. Rob is also coaching so that adds even more time crunch. Last week was a rough week, every day I was out running from the moment school let out till late at night. It wears you down, but I know the kids love it and I want them to enjoy their childhoods. We did have a wonderful spring break which gave us a much needed break from baseball!! These pictures were from the beginning of the season which was chilly. This weekend it was in the mid 80's and beautiful.

Really cool!! Church made this huge poster with all kinds of peoples stories as you walk in the church. I loved this moment.
We took the kids Kayaking it was quite fun. Lauren and I were in a boat together we kicked butt. I would tell her "Left, Right,Left" (: She listened and we did really well as a team. The boys were grumpy old men arguing about who was boss and what direction they were going.

We also served with our youth group at church over the break. We went to the Senior Citizen Center and served the seniors, and then went to see Cinderella after. We did lots of eating out and fun things around town. I love living where we live because we have so much to do and see around here. I feel like we live in a vacation destination and the weather was not to bad.
Of course we had to fit in a little work. We scrubbed our back patio off, what a job. So much dirt and pollen. I feel so bad for Drew and Lauren their allergies are horrible this spring! It never ends I am hoping everything is now done blooming. I have so many more pictures to share but wanted to get these off my phone so I would not forget our adventures.

Nerf wars and eat those vegetables

I have a love hate relationship with Nerf.  The love part is that it's fun to play with my kids every once in a while and I can see the appeal of running around having a Nerf war. The part I am not so fond of is the Nerf dart part. Once all the fun is done the kids are supposed to pick up the darts the only problem is they only pick up 60% of the darts. That's when mean mom comes out. After I have ran over a few and had to face the wrath of Drew and his anger of me running over his precious Nerf darts I go onto finding them all over the house and yard. The boys also have a fascination with looking up models, talking about custom paint jobs and spending every dollar on new Nerf guns when we already have at least 20. I will miss this one day but Nerf had taken over in our house and thankfully Mindcraft is now on the back burner.  I am sorry but I don't miss you Stampy Longhead or your friend Diamond Minecart one bit.

I do like that they are playing outside using their imagination and being boys, Lauren also like Nerf
In other news I bought a Juicer off of Amazon for $35 a small investment to see what I thought. My kids are not huge on vegetables. I love them and wanted to try this myself to get a extra boost on days I feel sluggish. I am really happy with this juicer, it works great. The kids not so much. Let's just say it took a lot of bribing of a certain child. I had to put it in a certain cup to hide the lovely green color. I do think this is a good way to get added vitamins without all the fiber or eating a million raw vegetables making your jaws hurt. So at least once a week I am pulling this baby out. The key is to find a good combination you like. I really did not mind the taste and I just drank mine right down.
Lauren really enjoyed cutting things up and seeing it go through the machine, it is kind of fun.

Drew had a mother son dance last month. We went with my friend Ruth and her son and made a date out of it. It was a glow in the dark dance party. Let me tell you, Drew can dance. He is a little shy at first but then he busts a move.

Drew's Big Day And A Lesson

A couple of weekends ago Drew was baptized. It was one of my top best moments. I was going to say top 10 but that would not work considering I have to many top ten happiest best moments. Drew accepted Christ a few years ago at a young age but we waited to have him baptized because we wanted to make sure he understood exactly what it meant. He came to us last year asking but with the move and all we did not have a church home. So this year we have been part of a great church called Church Project. I love a lot of different things about Church Project and one of them is the ministry for my children. Through watching the leaders themselves the kids understand it's a heart change to live for God not just something you do on Sundays as a tradition but living it out daily.
On Sunday I think they baptized 30 people adults and kids and before each person they read why they wanted to be baptized and some of their story. It was so touching to hear about each person's journey and how they are now living for Jesus. When they called Drew one of the kids pastor's baptized him. His story was sweet it was about how his brother Jaden shared Christ with him and how at VBS he decided to follow Jesus. As I watched Drew my heart was so happy. The tears flowed as I watched him come up from the water with a big smile and then moments later seeing Rob pick him up and hug him it was heaven. It was just a moment but one of those moments that everything stands still and you feel God right there with you.
Out of all things in my life I am most proud of my children and how God is using each of them. It's so important to me that they know who they are in Him. That God will use them each day to love others and to be lights of the world.  They all have their moments, we all do but mostly these kids are sweet kind children who love God.  Recently out of the blue one of Drew's friends moved away. Drew did not know that this kid was leaving and when he came home from school he cried for a long time. I sent his mom a message telling her how much Drew was going to miss her son and her reply took my breath away. She went on to tell me what a difference Drew made in her son's life. How it was obvious that he was a christian and was even praying for people in her family. That her son didn't have that many friends and Drew stepped in and made all the difference. She could not have been kinder and more gracious telling me that my child was so special, a child of God. These are the moments that I live for! I always tell my kids that God can use them everyday even when life or circumstances aren't going well. They need to try their best and let God take care of the rest.
With all the stress of being a mother and all my compulsive worrying  concern for my kids this is what God wants me doing. It was a great wake up call to me!! So when my brain starts going rapid fire about the food my kids eat, their chores, discipline issues, homework, health, sports...If they are measuring up academically and if they don't get straight A's,B's or even fail a test that they won't get into college which will result in living in my house forever (which actually I would not mind) or not having a job to pay their bills because of how they did on that math test in 5th grade that determined their future. That's when I need to just....STOP and know that these are God's children and my job is to teach them that Christ is the center and to put their faith in Him. After all they are His first and He loves them a lot more then I do and I need to trust Him!
