Lauren's New Room

Lauren had her second year Daddy/Daughter Dance. I picked her out a black dress that was really cute that  I bought this summer. We go to put the dress on and she says she hates the black dress!! "Mom, witches wear black!" I could not get over the horrible look on her face as she looked in the mirror. I love black but I guess it is kind of a grown up color on little girls. Thankfully we had her favorite green dress on hand and that went along with deciding she wanted to look like Princess Tiana. So on went the tiara and Tiana hair. Rob said once she got to the dance they had a fake snow machine and she left him high and dry, poor daddy.
I have had plans to paint Lauren's room for a while. I painted it almost 2 years ago a very pale pink. It never was my favorite color but I didn't want a bright pink. I don't think pale pink is much better even though I love pink. It's just not a color I like in my house and Lauren didn't like it either. I made her a mermaid above which I will post about soon and saw some prints on Pinterest from Pottery Barn that I wanted to copy. I decided with Lauren's help that Sherwin Williams Sea Salt is one of the best colors ever.
So much brighter in a good calming happy way.
 Hello Dexter
My painting, it turned out cute!

Fall is here

I just got around to posting these fall decorations, busy times!! I never thought I would be this busy once the kids were in school but I have been. This year Jaden has taken lots of advanced classes. I am so proud but more work for mom and dad. Drew started baseball and has his own work load and even Lauren has projects and homework to be done each night. This school year I'm also on the PTO board. I never knew how much work these ladies do, they are simple amazing servants. Hug a PTO mom today because she probably needs it. I am in charge of our monthly newsletter and Facebook page so I actually enjoy it. The newsletter was a first for me and I had a few moments of rage but other then that it's coming along. blogging has really gotten sidetracked this year. I do want to post as often as I can because life is just going to darn fast and my memory is getting worse and worse. I have been working on a few projects. I like simple projects like wreaths because they aren't to time consuming, messy, or energy draining.
These were easy, a grapevine wreath, linen ribbon, some green plant filler, and a few pumpkins. I love wreaths so much. I think  they add so much to a house. I like a good warm welcome to my home. Wreaths can be very pricey but making your own is the way to go. These were very inexpensive to make and they are the look I wanted.

A few touches in the house. I just can't put orange in my house. I can't do it!! I will stick with the white and natural looking pumpkins. I bought the horse from Home Decorators Collection and the new lamp on my entry table. I love that store, great prices and good quality.
More to come!!

Dexter and Party Fun

Yes my children talked me into another cat. They just love cats.  It all started with Jaden now we are the owner of two kitties. Meet Dexter, Drew named him after one of my favorite shows. He is a lap cat and overbearing at times with all his love.
Crosby and him seem to be good friends. At first Crosby was scared but now they are loving each other.
The kids had friends over for their birthday and a sleepover. Lauren had her friend over too. It was fun! They had a Nerf gun war and then swimming and then movies. These kids were up LATE!!

Boys were so happy they got iPad Mini's
See you next week or next month boys! Kids love their technology. I now know every Life Hack and funny video around not to mention the Hit the Quad dance.  How could I ever live under a rock with having a teenager and a preteen.
