Happy 10th Birthday Drew

Dear Drew,
My sweet boy you're 10 today! When I look at this picture above you are not looking like a little boy anymore, sniff sniff. You have grown a lot and you are getting so tall. You still love your Nike long socks, one day we will laugh. I love how coordinated you are with your wardrobe and you are actually very good at putting stuff together. You also got braces and I think that makes you look older as well. You have done really well with all the orthodontics going on. You had to get a palate expander and now top braces and it doesn't surprise me but you love how you can change out your band color to match different sports teams.
You are a animal lover and sweet sweet boy. You do not like injustices and you are not afraid to stand up for others. Mom always tells you to be like a Tim Tebow when it comes to playing sports and with the other kids in general. You sometimes come home and tell me how you talked to your friend about Jesus and how you hope they know Him. You love pop music and christian music. You still can dance and you do the Dancing Yoda now. The Dancing Yoda is one of my favorite things!! I love to see you put on the Yoda mask and bust a move. You never leave me bored or not laughing. You are a jokester and have a great sense of humor.
I love when your eyes get really big and your smile is as big as the sun. You bring a joy to my heart that is indescribable. You bring life wherever you go. You are also polite and sincere and have a very sensitive heart. One day you tried to describe that when something bothers you or you get your feelings hurt how inside your heart hurts with pain and emotion. I told you how special that was to be sensitive and that you are going to make one wife super happy with all your sweetness and charm. Speaking of charming you love all things England and tea, you want to be British. You still love all things sports especially baseball and football. I'm so glad you have Dad to help you and he teaches you so much. You went to your first Astros game a couple weeks ago and dad caught you a ball!
Always be who God has made you Drew, don't go with the crowd do what is right. You want to be liked and that is a good thing but remember Who's You are as Dad always tells you. I could not be more proud of the man you are becoming. You work hard in school, sports, and have a good attitude and effort. We are proud of this but know that you sometimes need to be pushed a little bit. Mom is very protective of you and for good reason but sometimes I need to let you make mistakes and fail. Believe me it's not because I want you to it's painful to me but because it makes you better. Remember how you didn't do so well on your math test because you got a little careless even though you knew it all but you didn't read it all carefully? After consequences you came back stronger and worked harder the next week and got a A. You are a fighter and the toughest kid I know. God is going to use you in many ways thought life's good and bad. You have such a big heart! You love children and want to help people with your compassionate giving soul. Those qualities my son are not given to everyone. You are making a difference in the world and we love you so much!
You are the BEST!!

Happy 12th Birthday Jaden

I know I say this every year but it's hard to believe you are no longer that little boy that used to say Home Epo with a John Deere tractor in each hand. This year I have seen you become a man, and you have really stepped up in every way. Last year during our move you had to go to a school you really didn't like coming from a school you loved. It was not easy but I told you that God was going to use you and people would notice that you were different. Within a month you were nominated as Leader Of The Pack by your class and your teacher called me to thank me for raising such a special kid. When you left that school she cried because she said you brought her so much hope and we had no idea how you made her feel being in her class. When we moved to the new school you won the award again, not surprising. You are always willing to help classmates and you love to make your teachers feel good.  Not only are you respectful you are bright and you work really hard and excel. You are also wise and logical. I love how you gather all your facts and make a fair opinion on every topic imaginable. You are still a unorganized mess but I love that about you. If I ever need to find you it's not to difficult because you leave a trail of where you have been.
Here you are with Nana you two look a lot a like and she adores you.  Grandpa is your buddy and you and him are great friends.

I love that you value and respect dad and I. We have lots of talks together and I know we will always be close. This year you shared how you feel like you sometimes don't fit in and how it's hard to meet new friends. I always want you to remember that you should be your authentic self and be who God made you to be. True friends are worth the wait and they say a lot about you and they can really influence you. Middle school is not the easiest time, everyone feels like you do but you should continue to be exactly who you are and the right friends will come. I also want you remember that four quarters is better then 100 pennies when it comes to friends. Just believe that and laugh at yourself if you accidentally trip or get embarrassed.
You also have your silly comical side, there is nothing like it. You are witty and silly. When we were going out to eat one day you insisted that Drew needed a caffeine boost and that your cat needed more Kitty Cannabis while we were out.
I'm so happy you and Drew are best friends. When I think of You I think of him. You are opposites in so many things but you two are inseparable. Most Friday nights you two are up late playing Mindcraft or reading.
A couple of weekends ago you conquered some fears and even went zip lining. We could not be more proud of all you do. You are a leader and we are so excited on what is to come. This year has been a big one as far as maturity but you still have a innocence that I wish could be forever. The day you rode your bike to school for the first time I watched you go and I cried. You have your wings and you are going to fly. It's hard for me to let go in some ways but yet I am so encouraged and proud of you when you try new things or do the right thing when it would be easier not to. It's a big world out there and letting you go can be hard. I know you will make lots of good choices and maybe a few not so good but I want you to know that mom and dad will always be here for you no matter what. Nothing could make us love you any less and I can only love you more each day if that is even possible. Jaden you are the best!

Accessories For The House and Mud Room Pics

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. It was so nice here and cool, when I mean cool I mean 78 degrees but it defiantly feels cooler after being 95 for several days. I bought this chandelier months ago but never posted it. I think I found it on Amazon for around $100. Amazon is so fun but dangerous the reviews are one of my favorite things about Amazon. I love to read opinions before I buy they are so helpful. This light fixture had great reviews and it was better then not having one. I figure for that price I can change it down the road when something better comes along.
I love this pot! I saw a very similar one in the Ballard Designs catalog but it was $150. I found one at Ross( a very hit or miss store for me) only $23 and it's huge.
Found this little antique table, it a little wobbly but super cute. I'm still in that stage of wanting to move things around but not sure where I want stuff. I love this little dog I have had it for years. Just recently Drew was swinging around and the dog lets just say is still standing but with lots of super glue, life with kids (:
Here is the mudroom Before:

After: I am so thankful for this mudroom bench It was one of those items I have always wanted! There is even a laundry shoot which is so practical so no more excuses for dirty clothes laying around. This is not a very big area but it works out well as my laundry room/mudroom and our pantry is back here too.
I wanted to post a blog you all might enjoy from the Blog Hop I was in.
Susie from her blog  Castle Blake  is a friend of my good friend Jackie. Susie is a fun mom that is a cheer coach, a  Zumba instructor and a good mommy, say hello.
Busy week with my boys birthdays coming up, lots of planning.

Back into the swing of things

It's hard to to believe that we are already into our third week of school. I am happy to say I have the parent meetings crossed off the list and the kids are on a nice schedule. Truly I thought I would have had hours to get everything done, not the case my day goes so fast. Mornings are crazy like all mom's out there I feel like I am running a very crazy but beautiful life. I wanted to share two tips that have helped me and maybe they will help you. One is I like these food dividers I think I have mentioned them before but it saves time by not having to put stuff in baggies. You do have to wash them every  day or so but in the evening I don't mind that. As you can see my children like different things and have different needs nothing is simple, ha ha.
I love these dividers, praise Jesus on this concept that I have not utilized for many years. I did this when Jaden was a little guy and just did not do it with Drew or Lauren. We had way to many mornings of sitting on the bed for ten minutes in a trance looking at the closet not knowing what to wear. On Sunday night I quickly pack Lauren's bins for the week, it's magic. I also gave one to my fashion icon Drew who picks his own clothes and it has saved me so much STRESS!!
Another biggie that I am so proud of the kids for is chores! I have needlessly been a martyr of our home doing all the work for to long. My children are kind and good helpers but I never kept set chores for them on a regular basis. These are not paid chores, that is another topic but things they must do to contribute. After one of my Mommy Dearest Moment...(it wasn't to bad but you know what I am talking about) of being exhausted and having them help they have stepped up. Every morning I ask if the chores are done and now I am not even having to ask. Another one of these brilliant ideas that for some reason I did not enforce which is my fault. Kids love to work, seriously they all said we like chores?? They like order and routine and who wants to live sloppy. The house has been so much cleaner it's unreal. I was doing almost all of the work and letting some of it go because I could not keep up with them throwing clothes everywhere and finding socks in every place imaginable.
I have been tying to cross off all the do's on my list the last couple weeks. One of them was painting my old dresser white for Lauren's room. I also re-painted her hutch  because it was to much of a yellow cream and white looks better with the pale pink. I have many other things to get done but the day does fly. I will post a tutorial on these easy curtains I made here soon.

Finally I was asked by a nice fellow blogger Connie from Crafty Home Cottage to participate in a Blog Hop. Blogging is such nice way to meet like minded friends that enjoy similar interests. I love reading blogs it's like reading my favorite book or magazine. So today she featured my blog along with two others. I in return need to feature 3 blogs next Monday. If your interested let me know for sure so I can feature your blog. It's a fun way to meet new friends and gather new ideas.
