Potter's Hand

I love this song. I was in Hobby Lobby a few months ago and they had the instrumental version on. It was a day that I was feeling especially discouraged I remember. Isn't it amazing how hearing one song can change your whole perspective. Do you ever feel like you are going through something hard and then God reveals himself in a big way? As I was in that store I started humming and singing the words to Lauren and I teared up. She was being especially difficult that day and I was a little overwhelmed by that and a few other things. After it was over I felt so one with God and loved at that very moment. It is amazing how Jesus is the only one that can give you that feeling of peace. At that moment nothing else mattered except that feeling and to feel cared for by Him. Today at church (which is awesome by the way!!) my friend sang this beautiful song that I love so much.
Pause my music below first (:

Laugh out loud funny!

Maxine's Starbuck's Saga
I was in Starbucks yesterday when I suddenly realized I desperately needed to fart. The music was really, really loud, so I timed my farts with the beat. After a couple of songs, I started to feel better.
I finished my Latte and then noticed that everybody was staring at me. Then I suddenly remembered that I was listening to my iPod.

Snow Cream

This will be my last snow post about anything snow. I am so sick of it. We just missed a snow storm last night, thank goodness. When I was about to lose my mind last week from all the snow and cancellations we did have some fun. A friend of mine put a recipe on Facebook for snow ice cream. It actually is good and tastes a lot like homemade ice cream. If you have anymore snow you can try, lets hope none of us do and we can just write it down for next year.
Gallon of clean fresh snow
2 Tablespoons of vanilla
1 Cup of sugar
2 cups of milk
mix it all up real good and eat right away. I thought it was pretty good, Jaden was the only one who did not like it.
Here we are enjoying it!
Champ too!
Have a great weekend everyone, so glad we are moving into March..

A New Urn

I picked up this Urn at New Uses. It is the sister company of Plato's Closet, Once Upon A Child. I had never heard about it until I stopped about 9mo ago. It is defiantly hit or miss and it is not exactly cheap. Some of the furniture looks like your moms old furniture and they want $80 for a ugly nightstand. Anyway, I have picked a few things up from time to time. I found this Urn last night when I took the kids out since Rob had been out of town. It is solid!! I guess it is some sort of metal, I have no clue but it it is heavy. It probably weighs 15 pounds and is defiantly old. It could be worth something depending where it is from or age. It was $25 which I think is is a great deal considering how well made it is and it is huge. I love it and my first though was to put pumpkins in it in the fall to make a topiary effect. I want to use it now so I bought some sticks. Isn't that funny, to buy sticks? I wish I lived in more of a rural setting but no such luck. So off to Hobby Lobby I went. I want to add one more filler but they didn't have anything I liked so for now I have this fun spring garden arrangement.

A nest, artichokes, dried white things, feathers, a moss ball. I added my bunny on the side too. What would you do with it?

Country Living at Kmart

Don't these pictures just make you want to sit down and enjoy summer. I am so sick of winter, I keep telling myself it won't be to much longer. I have been meaning to write a post on my new discovery, which might not be so new from many of you.
One of my favorite magazines is Country Living. I love it! It is such a treat to sit down with a glass of tea and read it. If you have never read it is worth a try. There are so many ideas in it, every time I read it I write down plans or cut something out from my dream book. It is a great mix of country decor but not country like in hearts and ducks in clothes but in a classy more traditional country. It is great eclectic mix of old and new. It is how I want my home to be. Comfortable but yet elegant. A lot of the designers share easy fun ideas ,displays and many love to go junking my favorite pastime. I have never been a Kmart fan. I just never found anything in there that I liked. I went in there a few weeks ago looking for something and I could not believe it but Kmart carries a whole line of Country Living items. From $3.49-$350 you can get pretty items for your home. I was really impressed with it all. They had some great french chairs that I wanted, a glass hutch, and some really beautiful patio sets. Check it out!! This might be old news but I wanted to share.

I love there website also tons of great ideas and pictures galore

Pictures are from Country Living At Home Collection.

Aren't these so neat? Hope you all had a nice weekend.

Something on the ledge

These spaces are very hard to decorate. Last year we put the crosses up, and we love them. It really fills the wall up. We have a two story great room which is really pretty but probably is not the most economical. It costs a lot to heat and cool and wastes room, but is very pretty. We enjoy all the windows and light. Don't know if we will buy a house again with the same look. It makes it really hard to decorate huge tall walls. Before I had a few things up there besides the crosses and never liked it. I like this look better. I moved the candles around and added a tall topiary. I found these really cute fake suitcases the JCPenny outlet. I think they look really cute. I could go back and buy about ten more of them. What would you do if you had this space? There is a plug up there too, not sure what I could do with that??

Valentines Day and more snow...

I wanted to take a picture of my Great Valentines Day. Normally Rob and I don't make a big deal about it but lately I have been really spoiled (: I am not complaining. I got a gift card for the spa. I think I will get a massage. I would love to get a pedicure but I am still recovering from running the grocery TV car over my toe nail. It is not pretty. He also got me the new Beth Moore Book I have heard so much about, love her. I defiantly know I need to read this book. I also got some fun cards. Speaking of Valentines cards, isn't it hard to find a good one? It seems like most of them say.."I know that I don't tell you enough" or " On this special day I want you to know your loved" or "I know I don't show my love" Along those lines. I know marriage has ups and downs and it is hard work but I love my husband more each day!!
It was fun weekend, my dad who is working/living in PA came for the weekend to spend with us. My poor mom is back in NM trying to sell the house, can't wait. Jaden had his Upward game. I love Upward!!! He seems to like it too. When he is into the game he is a good defensive player. Other times he is in la la land but that is okay, I just want him to have fun.
Today we were hit with another snow storm. We have been in the house so much it is not fun anymore. I miss getting out!! Drew hasn't been to school in forever and I have a feeling tomorrow they might cancel again for Jaden. It is so cold out it isn't much fun to play outside. So we have been trying to keep busy. The kids are good for couple hrs and then everyone is getting on every ones nerves. Rob is on another business trip this week.. I can't complain he is a hard worker. I appreciate and feel blessed to be at home with my kids, have a warm home, and have plenty to eat (To much food) Thank you Lord!!
I love these shoes. They had them at Marshall's for much cheaper!! Love Marshall's, TJ Maxx!!

We did some painting!!

Lego Building is going on at all times in our house. Have you ever stepped on Lego's? Ouch!! My boys love them.
Jaden playing Basketball

Stay Warm friends!!

Entry Table re-do

Found this solid wood (heavy) antique entry table off of Craigslist for $25. I thought it was kind of neat but wanted to paint it. It is really unique because it is really tall, I have never seen such a tall table like this. I did a white finish and antiqued it with furniture stain. It is really neat. You just paint it and then rub in dark stain with a old t-shirt where you want it to look older. Then I used sandpaper to rough the edges a bit and added a new knob. We have it up in our room and I think we are going to put a flat screen on it. It is so tall it would be a great height for a TV from laying in bed.
Sorry for the wires but you get the idea. You can click the image to make it bigger. I am really loving this flipping. It is so addicting. I have to be careful to get stuff really cheap so that I can have fun with the hobby. I have sold a few things that I could not find a place for on Craigslist so it has worked out well. Have a great weekend everyone!! We have Upward tomorrow and a birthday party. Should be a fun weekend.

New Curtains, I think

I have looked for curtains for my living room area for a while now. I wanted something lighter and more traditional. I used to have these red stripe ones, that were not bad but a little dark. I bought some at Target that were cream and they were the insulated kind. I put them up and they looked awful. They were like marshmallows hanging on the wall. I had to order them online since I needed 8 panels. I took them back and then ordered some from JCpenny online (great place to buy affordable curtains that are nice) they were tan toile, but they were way to shear. We don't have blinds on these windows, I want shutters but am waiting to make sure we are going to live her a while before we invest in them. Previous to this I was at Lowe's and saw these, and loved them. I wanted to wait to see how the Penny's curtains looked (not good). I was looking for a damask curtain that was not as drastic as the black and white. These seemed to be a good fit. I love them , the only problem is they are are woven in a Jacquard fabric. When the light shines through them you can see the fibers, that bugs me. They are not lined. I am thinking about buying the black out fabric and lining them. It will cost me another $75 which really stinks but may be worth it. If we get the shutters it won't matter so maybe I will wait. What do you think? Do you like them? It is really bright in my living area so pictures are great when they are the opposite direction but straight into the light it is hard to get pictures that are not overexposed. You get the idea though.
Here is a example of the fiber/light problem

When the curtains are pulled back it looks fine, there are no weird lines.
Remember my $20 chair? Since then I added my re purposed homemade ottoman and fabric. I decided to re purpose the pillow too. It was a cute pillow but had a shabby floral look to it. I like Shabby Chic but not big on flower prints. So I got my best friend out my trusty glue gun and glued on the matching fabric. Such a easy trick that actually holds up great. Now don't analyze anything to much in my house. "It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful." You all know that quote if you like the Nester. It is true, if it works and looks good why spend more money. You can transform and re purpose, paint anything really. My little side job is going well. I don't know how often I will do it but I finished a piece last week and now I am working on a dry sink this week. Stay tuned for a new project this week.
On a side note we are stuck inside for the next 2 days it looks like. Snow, snow and more snow. Hopefully the kids will be good, did I mention that Rob is going out of town for the next two days? I will need a break for sure when he gets home.

Lot's of snow

These picture are from a snow storm we had about a month ago but I thought they were fitting. On Friday we got about a foot of snow in Columbus. The kids love it and have already been out and have built a snowman. We have a small hill in our backyard and they love to go sledding down it, even daddy and mommy like it. Jaden was sick all day on Thursday and Friday and today he is much better. Unfortunately now I am sick with whatever he had, some sort of virus. With the snow storm we are pretty much stuck inside, but it is fun. The kids enjoy playing games and the Wii and I have Rob home to help. Hopefully tomorrow we will all be well enough to go to church. Speaking of church we have finally found our church home. We have been attending another church for about a yr not feeling like it was a fit but we liked it okay. When we first moved here we went to a baptist church that we liked okay but wanted to try some others. We made some friends there and remained friends with the associate pastor. Jaden has been playing Upward there and we have since reconnected with some people. We tried it last Sunday and it was awesome. They have changed so much and they built on a huge addition. There is so much for our kids, it is great fit. We are also getting involved with a small group right away and there is a place for us to serve. It felt like home. So that was a prayer request that was trying and there were some times we didn't know what God was trying to tell us. It all just fell into place. Hope you all have a nice weekend, stay warm.

Ever care to much or wonder what people think about you? Ever wonder what the first thing people think about when they think of you? Oh, she is really sweet, kind, compassionate. Or that person is so and so.. I think acceptance is so important with woman. Most woman just want to be loved for who they are. People are so much more complicated then I ever thought. The more I live my life the more hurt, pain and insecurities I see everywhere I look. I try and make it a point to go the extra mile for ever person I encounter. I always try and ask them how their day is etc..You would be surprised how many people open up if you bring the conversation. Many are hurting only putting on the mask like everything is okay. It means a lot to most people to show you care, even if you don't know them. I can think of times when I have had a bad day and someone will be extra nice to me out of the blue and it really puts a smile on my face.
As I was dreaming of summer and messing around with my camera. I got to thinking about how beautiful shells are. Then I though people are kind of like shells. They are beautiful and different on the outside but complex in the inside. You never really know what is going on in the inside because with a lot of people they are to afraid to show you the inside. My prayer is for woman to remove the shell and be themselves. To ask for prayer if you are hurting, to call a friend who cares, and not to be ashamed to ask for help. I pray this for all woman including myself. This was just on my heart and I wanted to share.
