Let's go Steelers!

Hey everyone- back to school today after our mini vacation. Not for me really. I did sleep in a little with all these delays and cancellations. I had a lot of home time and a lot of arguing from J and D. The boys love each other but tend to get on each others nerves. It is still icy out there but the main roads are pretty good. We are getting ready for the big game. All my boys including Rob love the Steelers. I'm still trying to figure some stuff out on my laptop but I have some cute pics of Lauren. She hasn't had to many pics the last few posts. She is still beautiful in all her glory throwing a tantrum every second. I put her in a red tutu yesterday she really wasn' t into it. I want to use some of my new editing to see how they look. Mr.Mac though is still having issues receiving e-mails. So Big Wally that is his name at Apple Headquarters is working on it for me. I love the computer. It sure beats this dinosaur of a computer I have. The kids permanently messed up the fonts so it has been a year that I have not read certain websites..they were gigantic. I can't wait to be done with it..
Have a great weekend!!

Cabin Fever anyone?

Mr. Bunny in my back yard. This is about how I feel. Although the sledding has been fun, I'm sick of winter.. Two days in a row of no school, I think tomorrow they will be back. This is the thickest ice I have ever seen, there was a massive sheet on everything. Then we got 3" of snow on top of the already snow, then ice.
I will be dethawing if you need me (:

I love faces entry (: Joy

JOY!
I had a couple friends say this would be a good one to enter so here it goes...

Snow fun!!

One thing about winter that is fun is playing in the snow. We have a little hill in our backyard that is perfect for sleading. It is right off our patio, it is not big but fun. Some of the neighbor kids use it also we have the neighborhood hill.

I love how his tongue is sticking out in great concentration.
Even Rob joined in.
I love this picture, so cute.
Well friends I went out sat and bought a Apple laptop. I love it BUT... it is already having problems. For some reason, we can't stay connected to the Internet unless you put all the passwords in each time and we have wireless in the house, it also will not let me send e-mail. Rob was on the phone with Apple for three hours and we wiped the hard drive, re started and nothing.. They think something is wrong with it.?? I'm so disappointed? Everything I buy, I'm cursed. You can read about the lamps a few posts down. We got the kids a basketball game for Christmas for the basement and that was missing pieces. Christmas Eve night we realize that there is no way we can put it up for Christmas morning ): We just recently gotLauren a dollhouse bookshelf from Target that was totally broke once we opened the box. It is frustrating!! I think is this a curse on me (: or does this stuff happen to everyone? I don't believe in curses but I do believe that the enemy is trying to frustrate me and Rob that is for sure!!
Love,
Katie

Funny Joke always check your kids homework!

Life Lesson# 45893 = Always check your child's homework before it gets to school!
When asked to draw a picture of what they wanted to be when they grew up, second-grader "Sarah" turned in the lovely drawing shown below. Needless to say, the teacher was a bit surprised -- Mrs. Smith had always seemed like such a conservative woman. So she sent a note home to the girl's mother asking for clarification as to the picture's meaning. (read Mom's reply below the picture)
(Here's the reply the teacher received the following day)
Dear Mrs. Jones,
I wish to clarify that I am not now, nor have I ever been, an exotic dancer. I work at Home Depot and I told my daughter how hectic it was last week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out every single shovel we had, and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people were fighting over who would get it. Her picture doesn't show me dancing around a pole. It's supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we had at Home Depot. From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly before she turns it in.
Sincerely,Mrs. Smith

our paint job

Here is the finished look. I love it! Just a little new nest, I liked how it had 3 eggs.
My mantle re-do. I just moved stuff around and got a new intial iron thing. I love this wall piece. I saw them in Ballard's and they were a little different but they were over $100 this was $25 at Kirklands.
The staircase
Finally I found something to put above in that ledge area. We moved the cross wall up to there. The stained glass kind of fits, not sure on the candle's but for now it is okay. If you have any more ideas to sit on the edge I would love to hear them.
Another Topiary (:
I just love the contrast with the black and white and walls.
Dinning room area.
I love these lamps but what a pain. I bought them at Lowe's they are a perfect match. Took them home and the bulbs seemed to be to big. I took them back and they couldn't get them to fit. They gave me appliance bulbs? They seemed to fit there and when I took mine home and added it it seemed to be to small. I pushed the lamp shade down and then it broke. I took them back to Lowe's and they tried again and said they didn't fit. I left leaving behind the lamps, with all three kids for the third time. I went over to my beloved Hobby Lobby and they had similar ones. I noticed they had night lights in there's. So I went back to Lowe's again #4 and told them that I wanted to try a night light. I go in and they have a display that now has the original bulbs I bought in the lamp?? I asked them nicely to fit them in my lamps and I was going to leave with them pre-assembled. They got them in?? Crazy... I'm ready for some R and R.. I love all your comments blogging friends they all mean so much to me..

Please Pray for Harper

This is Harper and Her mommy Kelly. Please pray for this little girl! I read Kelly's blog once in a while, and was shocked that the baby was sick. My friend Angie had it posted on her blog and then I realized another one of my friends did too. It is amazing how this world is smaller then we realize and how everyone is connected. This family is a believer and many people are praying, Kelly said in her post yesterday that there are so many babies in ICU and no one is there with them or there is no family and friends there to support those families. Please pray for Harper but also for all those babies and families there and all over the world. My baby had to have a surgery and I know how hard that it is to be there in the hospital with them. It is very lonely and scarry and your very exhausted and vulnerable. May God show us himself in many ways in these storms of life. Please Lord hold these babies and families in your loving arms. You are always there!! Praying...

Done painting sneak peak

I have missed blogging the last week. It was a lot of work painting and tonight we are finishing up the final touches. Putting everything back on the walls etc.. I got a few accent pieces and I thought I would show those here. The birdcage shelf is from eBay. The topiaries are from Lowe's they are 75% off right now. They have all kinds of neat stuff on clearence. I love topiaries! I counted that I had 16 in my house. Maybe over kill. They just looks so classy to me, but yet are so inviting.

I wanted one of these cloches things for a while now, and I got one with Christmas money, I love it.
These are my new curtains in my dinning room. I really did not have much up before. I'm really happy with these, I ordered them online also. I will have more pictures soon. It has been tiring but I love the results, I have a few new accents I'm looking for the dinning room and living room area. I'm still looking but It really feels like home now.
A closer look at the toile curtains. Hope everyone is doing well. It has been so cold here in Ohio. Today it warmed up a lot so the kids went and sleaded outside for a little while.

scared of heights anyone?

You do notice he is smiling here. We have been talking about painting the great room, which is like 18ft high or something. It is such a big area and then it connects with the foyer and loft upstairs. So it is a large amount of painting. When we moved in it was that off white color and it was beat up with scratches everywhere. Rob said he thought he could do it. I knew it would save money so thought it was a good idea. Well it really wasn't!! He had this idea to buy this huge later and edge and then use a roller brush. We got the ladder up on the wall and the man nearly pooped his pants!! There was no way he was going to go up and down the ladder to the 20ft ceiling. I called Home Depot and they had scaffolding. Rob went and got it and brought is home. He started to put it together and it was swaying back and forth. After talking to my dad we knew there was a missing piece or several. He went back again and came home with all the pieces. We get it together and Rob apparently is deathly afraid of heights, I had no clue. He had so much trouble getting up the scaffolding without shaking to death. I felt terrible for him. Then we got the safty rails up on the top, me hosting these heavy metal sections up to him on the loft... Can you imagine the scene?? It was bad, but once we got the safety railing up he was much better. Needless to say I went up and it is a lot higher once your there then when your watching. He did a great job but we worked until like 3 am sat and 10pm sunday. We are still not done, Rob went to get more paint and he brought it home and they messed the color up. So back to Lowes tonight. We are both tired but the results are awesome. We used the Nester's favorite color Tobacco Road and it looks great. I will show pics when the this tornado of a house is back together. I might be MIA for a while..

Lauren's big girl room.

I had so much fun with these projects. They defiantly needed rehabbed. This is one of my favorite hobbies is to find stuff that looks really bad but has great potential. One of these projects was very cheap and that was the hutch and desk $30 off of Craigslist. The other I paid $50 at a antique shop and it needed redone but it is almost a antique so it was worth it. I love French style furniture and I wanted Lauren's room to have a femine look with a bit of shabby chic. I changed the hardware on both pieces. The one I left orginal pulls but glazed them with white paint. I love glass knobs on the dresser the two top ones are antique and the other four are replicas I ordered off of ebay. Hope you like it.. We still need to get her a bed but she is still in a crib so we are okay for a while. I will keep my eyes open for a headboard but I will buy her a new mattress, that is where I draw the line.. She needs a nigh stand too. So that will be fun to find one of those. I found one at Target today but it was like paper thin so I will find another rehab and pay less and get better quality. Rob wanted go buy her all new stuff but I had a lot of fun doing this and I saved so much money so to me it was worth it.

aweful mauve

The pictures are not real clear maybe tomorrow I can get some brighter ones.

Lauren Lu Lu

This Baby Lu Lu dress is simply adorable on Lauren. I did not pay full price for it, far from it. They have the most adorable clothes though. My mom started calling Lauren "Lu Lu" and it is kind of growing on me. I wish I could get her more of these outfits but even on ebay they are still a lot. So cute. My big projects will be reveled in the next day or two. It has something to do with Lauren's room.

This is blurry but so cute of her.

Drew's new look, a Mohawk

Drew is our little GQ he can get by with about any look. Can a mother brag? He is darn cute with his beautiful big brown eyes and darling smile. He is sporting a Mohawk now. He can wear his hair just about anyway and it stays with some gel. We can do spikes all over, the Edward Cullen look ( I personally like that one (: and many more. This seems to suit him for now.
I'm tired it is almost 12:00 here and back to the rush tomorrow. I have been so busy getting some stuff out in the mail to people. I made some flower headbands for my niece, my sister in law is pregnant so I just boxed up all the cutest outfits of Lauren's and sent ot some family pictures to our moms. This house is a mess too. Oh it can all be so overwhelming. I need to clean!! I love a clean house. I have many projects to share in the next few posts. Wonder why I'm tired.
More later my faithful friends.
