Bench re-do

I found this cute little bench calling my name at a thrift store when I went with one of my friends junking for the day. $5. Not bad at all.
This picture is a little dark, but look what little black paint and some sand paper can do. These bench projects are the easiest to do. All you do is paint them or spray paint them, remove the top of course first. Recover the top with any fabric you choose and use as staple gun to attach. Then screw in the top and your done. You can weather/distress the look with some sand paper and that is it. Cost at total of around $10. I had the paint and I only used about a half a yard of fabric. I stuck it in my kitchen for more seating when friends come over.
I liked the fabric, it is trendy but cute. I love Jo Anne's selection they have so many nice fabrics. Now go find yourself some little benches..

Loving the Unborn

I came across this picture, it brough back sweet memories. This is the day we went to court and Lauren was officially ours. She was just a couple months old here. I'm going to stray away from my light hearted blog and talk about somthing that I'm passionate about. It seems right now with election day around the corner that people care more about the stock market and their money than innocent life. I know that neither politician has all the answers. I hope that when you vote you research what each candidate stands for. I'm afraid people don't even know what these candidates stand for and go with what is popular. This is a one issue vote for me. Infant genocide kills 1.37 million a year in America alone. The sad thing is those that claim to know God have 1 in ever 5 abortions that take place. I wonder what God thinks?
I support adoption but I also support helping these mothers keep their children and loving them. Helping them see that abortion does not solve all their problems.

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." Psalms 139:13 I have been frustrated thinking about how people feel about animals lately. I love animals and was a vet tech for 3yrs. I truly love them but I'm seeing a society that seems to love animals more then unborn children or kids at all. It seems they have more rights then a unborn human. People absolutely go crazy when they hear about animal abuse or killing. But then I think some of those same people are pro choice. Heaven forbid killing an animal but what about a baby. I saw it when I worked at the vet's office. Some of the girls were pro-choice but many times when we had a pregnant cat in for a spay they would see the babies and then try and save them, which they did and bottle fed them. Just because you can't see it people think that it is not life.
These statistics are so alarming.
WORLDWIDE
Number of abortions per year: Approximately 42 Million Number of abortions per day: Approximately 115,000
UNITED STATES
Number of abortions per year: 1.37 Million (1996)Number of abortions per day: Approximately 3,700
.
Who's having abortions (race)? While white women obtain 60% of all abortions, their abortion rate is well below that of minority women. Black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are roughly 2 times as likely.
Who's having abortions (marital status)?64.4% of all abortions are performed on never-married women; Married women account for 18.4% of all abortions and divorced women obtain 9.4%.
Who's having abortions (religion)?Women identifying themselves as Protestants obtain 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.; Catholic women account for 31.3%, Jewish women account for 1.3%, and women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions. 18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as "Born-again/Evangelical".
At what gestational ages are abortions performed:52% of all abortions occur before the 9th week of pregnancy, 25% happen between the 9th & 10th week, 12% happen between the 11th and 12th week, 6% happen between the 13th & 15th week, 4% happen between the 16th & 20th week, and 1% of all abortions (16,450/yr.) happen after the 20th week of pregnancy.
Likelihood of abortion:An estimated 43% of all women will have at least 1 abortion by the time they are 45 years old. 47% of all abortions are performed on women who have had at least one previous abortion.
Abortion coverage:48% of all abortion facilities provide services after the 12th week of pregnancy. 9 in 10 managed care plans routinely cover abortion or provide limited coverage. About 14% of all abortions in the United States are paid for with public funds, virtually all of which are state funds. 16 states (CA, CT, HI, ED, IL, MA , MD, MD, MN, MT, NJ, NM, NY, OR, VT, WA and WV) pay for abortions for some poor women.
I also read that it is the #1 common surgical procedure.
Love how they call it a surgical procedure, sounds so innocent doesn't it?
"I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Psalm 139:14
Christians why aren't we setting ourselves apart from the world? Being in this world but not of this world?
"These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain."
Jesus Christ
Matthew 15 8-9

fun little accents and a giveaway in the making.

I took a few picture of a couple new accents that I got. I love this little terrarium or small green house? I have always wanted a big one but my little one will do. I found it at a flea market for only $8. It has a hinge and heavy glass, I have no idea how old it is or where it came from. That is the fun behind flea markets and vintage, thrift stores. You never know what your going to find. My little card and nest was made by http://pumpkinpinkcottage.blogspot.com/
it was my little treat I won. I added this other little nest I got from Jo Anne's a while back.

This little hook thing was so cool I thought. It wasn't super cheap but I liked it, I put it in my entrance way. Oh I hate those white wall. We can't wait to paint. Just have to get around to it.
My little birdy, I got two of these. I love these.
I love this cross.
More ugly walls but I love the plates, only 10 cents each at Goodwill. The frame is a antique. This picture has bad lighting. Anyway you get the drift, I love plates.
I love artichokes, they really livin up a room. I had the container added some green mossy stuff and added the artichokes.

As for the giveaway. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Everyone here in blog land has been so giving and thoughtful, there seems to be a giveaway everyday. Stay tuned... I will get somthing up in the next couple days.
Have a great weekend

Beautiful Ava

I took these earlier this summer. My friend Cheryl has the most beautiful girls. I just got to posting a couple of these. The one below is one of my favorites. Children are such a gift from God, aren't they? They have so much wonder and love, and everyday is an adventure. I had a photo shoot today of my friends Shannon's new baby girl. I'm trying to practice as much as I can. Who know's if this will ever be a little fun side career. I love it, mostly I love capturing God's creation.

Sweet picture

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff-- including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see.

Beckstedt's Fall Fun Party

What a great fall we are having. I love these pretty leaves. We had such a fun weekend. Many pictures to see below.
Sat we drove up to one of my best friends from high schools parents house. They have a yearly fall fun party. They had tons of games, candy, campfire, food, hay rides. You name it they had it.
My friend Kristen's mom did so much work, there she is in the blue. She is great with the kids and planned all these fall activities. They are on a scavenger hunt here.
They have a beautiful home. When I was in high school this was the fun house to be. They have a awesome wooded property with 6 acres and a pond. Many fun times, now I'm bringing my kids here.

My friend Kristen's husband doing a demo for the kids on how to bob for apples.
He was a good sport.
My boys trying
Everyone enjoyed a apple
worms and gummy eyeballs. I told you she went all out.

A pile of leaves for the kids to play in.
They loved this!

All the kids were given these funny eye glasses in their goody bags, to cute.

Some old projects

I have had some of these projects on my point and shoot camera for a long time. I did them about a month ago. I found this desk for $5 at Goodwill. It is perfect for my sewing and other crafts. The little bench was a perfect fit and another Goodwill find for $3.
I painted and recovered. I thought I would go with some crazy leopard print since it is down in the basement. I like leopard print, not really for my house but it is a fun fabric.
I did not like this lamp shade, so I covered it. It is simple. You just wrap the fabric, and hot glue it on. I found a antique lamp at a yard sale that is really neat. It was made in Italy. It has some big glass pieces on it and it had a broken leg but it is so pretty. The funny thing is I got electrocuted when I turned it on. Rule of thumb never mess with old lamps, if you like them rewire them. I touched the top part to turn it on and it shocked me, not fun. Not sure what I'm going to do with it, I'm kind of scared to mess with it again.

This thing I pulled out of someones garbage. My new motto is "Anything for decorating". I told you at first you can't come to do it but as I have learned from the best, you do whatever it takes to get these good finds. This thing is broke in two areas but it was so pretty. I pulled it right outside of my neighborhood at this historic home. If they threw this away I'm dying to see the inside of the house. What would you do with it? Fix it? Take off the sides and hang them on the wall, place them on a shelf?
