A Great Thanksgiving!

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend and it we still have tomorrow yet. Rob's mom had Thanksgiving at her house for the first time ever with all the kids. It was really special. It was so nice to see that side of the family. The cousins all had so much fun playing. On Friday we went to the Columbus Zoo, they have all the lights up everywhere and all the indoor building are open. It was the most crowded we have seen it. They had reindeer and Santa there and a ice skating ring up, I forgot my camera ): They had lights that played with the music and changed colors it was the coolest thing. Today we went to COSI the huge science museum downtown. We received a family pass as a early Christmas gift from Rob's dad. The kids loved it. There is so much to do where we live it is hard to get everything in. You don't run out of things to do. We had a lot of fun family time too and we watched Christmas Vacation our annual family tradition. We let Jaden watch it he thought the cat getting fried from the lights was hilarious. He liked Cousin Eddy too. We hoped that those famous one liners would go over his head. The decorations our up in and out and now we can relax there, but now I need to shop. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

This is what Jaden looked like when he got off the bus on Tuesday. They had a man come bring a bunch of little forrest animals.

Where are all these roosters coming from?

I like french country decor but I'm not big on sticking with one exact style throughout my home although I try and blend everything. I tend to go with that look, a little traditional and some shabby chic. I like the rooster stuff but I know that it is trendy. Lately I must really like it because I keep seeing them throughout my house. I love this lamp on my built in kitchen desk. I got the shade from a yard sale for a $1 and then the lamp section at the thrift store for $1.50. My $2.00 lamp. That is wild, isn't it? I could be on one of those shows, on how to get as much good stuff for the cheapest amount possible. I find it fun, I buy junk even when I don't need it so how good is it (: I thank God for my creative mind at times, not that I'm some awesome designer or anything. It has saved me $1000's of dollars by making things, repainting things, floral arrangements. You name it I will try it. It doesn't mean I'm good at it but I will try. I would really like to get into sewing more. I will go on another bunny trail about how I love fabric's. I'll save it..
This curtain I made in like 10 min. Don't look to close, I do love the philosophy of it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful. I had extra fabric from my bench project. Total cost a couple dollars and the rod is a magnet. I love it because who wants to drill holes in a steel door? This is my laundry/mud area. The stick up roosters were already up. They are cute maybe to cute for my taste. They will be leaving soon when I paint this room.
Another one on this plate, I have reached my limit. I don't want overkill of anything, although I do have a lot of topiary trees. I love those.
My little desk area where my $2 lamp sits. I sit here in deep thought, no the boys use that chair to get in the cabinets and it drives me insane. They keep climbing on the counters, is anyone else's 4 and 6 yr olds think they are pet monkeys climbing on everything? This was kind of a random post, I have been super busy. I took pictures of a family on Sunday, and Rob is out of town tonight. I think I will finish my Twilight book tonight, Oh how I love it... I have actually had dreams about it the last couple nights, and I can't put the book down. You know it is good when it comes to this... Love all my faithful friends in blogland.

Ohio Star Ball and a night of fun

Last night was a late night. I didn't get home till after 1:30am. To make a long story short I went with my step-mom. She used to be married to my biological dad who died of alcoholism about 10years ago. She new me when I was really little and into my younger childhood. She and my dad went on to have two boys. A few years ago I got back in contact with all of them. It was easy to find her since she is a Pediatric eye suregeon. I was able to reconnect with her and get to know my brothers. In the last couple years we have visited a few times she lives in Franklin, TN. My younger brother Peter now goes to Ohio State. Irene my step-mom is now into ballroom dancing and competed in the show this week in Ohio. She is getting really good and enjoys it. She has a extra ticket and invited me to go with her on Sat night to the professional show. She took me to a wonderful non kid restaurant (: and we had a great time at the show. I have watched Dancing With The Stars and liked it okay. I thought this would be a fun experience. It was a ton of dancing with beautiful costumes, they were unreal. I was tired watching them by then end, these woman have great figures. If anything ever like this comes your way check it out. It was fun, you get to dress up like your going to the Academy Awards. I didn't really get to fancy but it is fun to watch everyone. This show will be on PBS on Feb 25th from 9-11. Maybe you will see me, ha ha...

Okay, I have jumped on the bandwagon. I bought the book yesterday at Barnes And Noble and guess what I can't wait to see the movie. I have read two chapeters going on three and I really like it. So thank you Melissa, Darlene, Jenny Kate, and so many other mama bloggers out there. I find the book very well written and fun. Anyone ready to see the movie?? Let me know how it is? Have a great weekend!! I'm going to this huge dance show on sat in Columbus. The real deal it is all the professional Dancing with the star type people. It is a black tie affair, I'm hoping it will be fun. I will fill you in.

Where is Lauren Grace?

She is getting bigger so she doesn't blend quite as much. On a number of occasions she has been told she looks like a Gerber baby. I think they are right. I have a new fascination with baby dolls. We love all the colors but love to find ones that look like her. Gerber used to make a baby doll and they had a African American one and it does resemble her. I need to win one of those on eBay they are so cute.

feedback on this chair

I was really not sure on this chair. I got it at one of my antique malls. I'm not a velvet fan but this color is a unique color of green that seems trendy right now. As you can see I added one of my famous glue gun pillows. Anyway excuse that yellow wall, oh how I hate that shade of yellow for a whole room. We still have a lot of painting to do around this place. So what do you think? Rob didn't like it? He has good taste there is something I like about it though? Tell me what you think?? Maybe I need to pick a new fabric for it, I like the style of the legs and the wicker stuff on the sides. This could be interesting...

Antique Mall finds and look at this mess..

Does this look like your house? Mine looks like this daily until I lay down the law and make them clean up. This is a major struggle for Drew but he has no problem making the mess. Jaden is a awesome helper although he now wants to be paid for going above and beyond what I ask. It seems fair. Drew would rather go to bed then to clean up. It is amazing how different they are. I thought this was funny. I stepped on a few army guys, not fun.
Remember this great find from my neighbor, I have been looking for glass knobs and I found then at Hobby Lobby. I can't believe all the knobs they have there. It makes you want to replace all the knobs in your house, they are so neat. I love glass knobs on black.
My new wicker chair, this thing is good quality and sturdy. $35 antique mall, I really like it. It goes good on our loft area at the top of the stairs.
My faithful blog readers will remember this thing I pulled out of the garbage. I took off both sides of this thing and put one in the kitchen window and one in our bedroom window and put the huge broken part on this huge shelf in the great room. It was broke but it gave it character. I still can't believe someone would throw away such a pretty piece of glass. Anything for decorating.
I wanted to add a hanging light above my sink. It had one of those ugly builder light domes. I changed this out with another antique mall find. I really like this chandelier. The lady selling said it was in some rich ladies house who had great decor. I don't know if she was trying to sell me on it or what? I love it though. I found another birdcage when I was there but they were not dealing. It is amazing how some of these people will deal and others will not and they are way overpriced. I love old birdcages only the wooden ones though. I need to hit some of these estate auctions sometime. Me and my crew. I can see me bidding while I chase Lauren and break up fighting between the boys. Oh how I will miss them when they are older.

Cavs Game

Last night we had a great night. We took customers to dinner and to the Cavs game. Last year we went with the same couple so it was fun. The game was awesome just seeing LeBron is awesome enough. NBA games are so cool there is never a dull moment with all the lights, flames , fireworks, dancers, entertainment. I love it! We had really good seats pretty far down but not on the floor so my pictures aren't that great. I was able to get a few.
King James

These guys especially LeBron are so fast it is hard take pictures. If only I was closer.
Here we are, it is a bad picture of me that is for sure. It was pouring rain in Cleveland and freezing. We had to walk downtown to the restaurant. We had Cajun food at this place called Fat fish Blue. It was not my favorite but it was fun to try something new. Anway I don't know what's up with my hair it got so puffy and wavy, yuck!
There were some Brown's players sitting pretty close to us. They had some major bling.
LeBron always goes to the scores table and puts baby powder on his hands and throws it up in the air somehow. I got a picture last year but I was to slow this year. It is pretty cool.

I have these all backwards, warm ups. It was a nice break to have the night to ourselves. We of course missed the kids. We got home at 2:00am. It has been a lazy day today that is for sure. Thanks everyone for their nice comments about every mom having those moments. Thanks so much. I have met some of the nicest friends in blogland. I apprecaite all of you.

Don't panic, wish I could say that!

Okay, yesterday was not a great mom of the year moment. See the above picture that is how I felt!! I took Jaden to the school bus and then went on to take Drew to preschool. After that I thought Lauren and I would drive about 20 min into Columbus to this huge thrift/antique store. We get there just fine and know we have to leave by 11:00 to get Drew from school in time. We had a great time looking around and she was actually pretty good. We found a few treasures and left in plenty of time. On the way out of there, it isn't the best part of town but during the day it is fine I missed my turn. No big deal, I realized I was going towards home but wasn't sure where the next big highway was to get on so I turned around to go back. No GPS that day, figures. In that short amount of time it took to turn around they shut the road down half way and have a detour that shuts my road down that I need to turn down.. Unbelievable. Not that it was that bad or so I thought until I sat in city traffic for 15 min. I'm totally panicking. I'm supposed to be at school in five minutes and I'm stuck in traffic and have no other way to get there. Previous to this I try calling Rob, to no avail he is in a meeting in PA, my two neighbors, my mom. Anyone to call the school to let them know that I'm going to be late. I'm crying and sweating at this time. My neighbor I know is going to get her son off the bus so I leave a message on her phone knowing I won't make it for Jaden either. If your not there the school takes them back to the school, talk about more embarrassing. I keep telling myself or Satan is that I'm a failure and that "good moms aren't 20min late to pick up there kid" I finally get a hold of Christi who is my lifesaver!! She gets Jaden off the bus and calls the school for me for Drew. I get a call from the preschool wondering where I am, they didn't listen to the voice mail my friend just left to let them know... More embarrassing. They are so nice to me really, they were are just worried. I finally get there driving faster then I should. I arrive at the preschool and I just burst in tears when I see him. I feel so bad that I'm late for my precious son. I get Jaden from Kristi's and he is having a ball, she has 3 boys so that was not a problem. I'm still upset. Drew's teacher is sooo sweet she calls to make sure I'm okay. Now I'm embarrassed that people are going to think I'm unstable. She assured me that is was no problem and that we all have been there and their is nothing you can do. That feeling of helplessness. She was so kind!!!
Why as moms do we feel we have to be perfect? Like we have be superheros and do it all. I hate to fail especially when it involves my kids. I want to be the mom who is on top of things. I guess God was letting me know that my life is not mine to control. I need to try of course but realize I need Him and that it is okay to mess up. I'm glad I have a Father in heaven that is so forgiving when I mess up. A Father that loves us no matter how bad we mess up or how much we want to think we control our own lives. I know today is going to be a good day!

How blessed am I to have a daughter..

I love this little picture of me and my little girl. I have included some pictures from Lauren's room and how fun it has been having a little lady around.

I feel so blessed in this life to experience having both two wonderful boys but also to have a little girl. It is really special to have both. I loved my boys before we adopted Lauren and never felt that I needed a little girl to be complete or so I thought. In fact we were open to a boy or girl and we were picked by a couple to parent a little boy. I had this all in my head early last summer that another little boy was on his way. I was so excited! I will tell you though.. When I got the call from my social worker saying that that we had a failed match but there was a little girl born that could be ours forever, I praised God and thanked Him. I was so excited and nervous I knew nothing about little girls...?? I only had friends with little girls. I was the boy mom. I still think about that little boy that was almost ours but so happy that his parents decided to parent him. I never would have had my sweet pea Lauren. I feel as time goes on we have bonded so much. She is a my little sunshine. She seems to bring so much joy where ever she is. Just today a teenager working at Subway said. "That is a CUTE baby" and a old man at the store said. "Hi Beautiful" I feel so blessed to have a little girl. Even though she looks nothing like me, she is from my heart and soul my little girl. I often think of her birth mom and her sacrifice. I wonder how she is, if she knows how much Lauren is loved. I send letters...I'm sure she is still hurting from this difficult time in her life. It is truly Noble and heartbreaking the pain birth moms feel. To be so selfless. I love Lauren's birth mom and pray about the day we can meet her. I found this little poem that really touched me.
Once there were two women who never knew each other. One you do not remember, the other you call Mother.
Two different lives shaped to make you one. One became your guiding star, the other became your sun.
The first one gave you life, and the second taught you to live it. The first gave you a need for love, the second was there to give it.
One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name. One gave you a talent, the other gave you aim.
One gave you emotions, the other calmed your fears. One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried you tears.
One made an adoption plan, that was all that she could do. The other prayed for a child, and God led her straight to you. Now, which of these two women, Are you the product of?Both, my darling, Both, Just two different types of love.---- Unknown

P family pictures

I was able to get another practice shoot in for the year. Pretty soon it is going to be to cold and I will have to play around with indoor lighting more. I love taking pictures outside, it is amazing how much the light can change from one location to another. This family was so sweet and their little girl was a perfect model. She had the prettiest little smile and out of all the pictures I took their was not one bad one of her. She is so photogenic.
I love this one, I love the fall colors.

I love this one, she looks so sweet, and I love the lighting.

Little brother Jake played t-ball with Jaden this spring. He was a typical funny boy, he seemed to ham it up too.
What a handsome couple.
They were having so much fun playing in the leaves, I was able to get a few good shots.
Thanks Linda for letting me borrow you and your family. Hope you like some of your pictures.
